FAQ

We recognize that many families had a poor experience with online learning during the pandemic lockdowns, and we're happy to inform you that Kensan is led by educators who are passionate about online learning and use online tools that are designed specifically for it. We've figured out what works and what doesn't, and we're ready to give your child the best online learning experience possible.

Simply fill out our online enrolment application form. Our Admissions Team will contact you within 48 hours of receiving it and walk you through the steps of the registration process. They'll gladly answer any questions you have and recommend a pathway/course based on your child's past schoolwork and your involvement.

All of our systems are accessible via your home computer, laptop, tablet, or mobile phone if you have the following: • a computer that is both fast and dependable (at least a 1GHz processor and a minimum of 1GB of RAM) • a broadband internet connection with a minimum upload and download speed of 400 kbps • an HD-Webcam • Working headphones with a microphone • The computer has Microsoft Teams software installed. • It's a benefit if you have a mouse pen or a tablet with a stylus, but it's not essential/required. • a printing device but can do without

We have two different intake periods. For the May-June Cohort, the intake is in August, and for the October-November Cohort, it is in January. We require that you apply at least three weeks before the start date of your child's sessions. Students in Cambridge Lower Secondary (Years 7, 8, and 9) can join at any time during the academic year. We strongly advise your child not to join Cambridge Upper Secondary (IGCSE – Year 10 and 11) or Cambridge Advanced (Year 12 and 13) after the halfway point of the academic year. Because exam standards may change from what your child has previously studied, we recommend starting no later than the November half-term for May -June cohort or later than April for the October - November cohort. Our Admissions Team, on the other hand, is happy to assess your situation and make exceptions as needed.

We run a three-term curriculum. Depending on the circumstances, if a student enrolls in the middle of the year, we will accommodate them. Our academic staff and instructors will create a customized catch-up plan for him or her. One-on-one instruction is also available, although there may be additional fees.

We start with Year 7 kids (ages 11-14) and work our way up to Year 13 students (ages 18-19). We do not, however, require students to follow rigid age-based class classifications. Our Admissions Team may arrange for math, English, and science assessment tests to establish your child's suitable year group.

Yes, though not mandated, throughout the enrolling process, you will be given a list of required books. Many of the books you'll need can be found on Amazon or through another similar delivery service in your neighborhood. We may also order the books for you and have them delivered to your address.

At Kensan, all classes are delivered live and in real-time, with online exercises or project-based learning as a follow-up. Our students are participating in an organized Microsoft Teams conference call with their teacher and peers in real-time. Students can talk to their teacher, ask questions, talk about what they're studying, and communicate with other students.

At Kensan, all lessons are recorded and students will always have access to the recorded session of the class followed up by one-on-one teacher support.

The Kensan social and emotional learning curriculum is in place to foster healthy relationships, and our digital homerooms are a terrific location to establish friends. Another way to connect with Kensan learners in your region is through Regional Hubs and boot Camps.

Getting involved in their learning is a huge contributor to student success. Also, offering a secure, well-equipped, and quiet learning environment. Healthy snacks and regular check-ins can help your child stay on track. See our 'what do you need' and 'tech requirements' pages for further information.

No! We've put a lot of effort into developing a curriculum that strikes a good balance between screen time and hands-on activities.

The enrolling charge is a one-time, non-refundable $100 registration fee and a $100 admittance testing fee. The cost of tuition varies depending on your child's grade level and the number of courses they take. Click here to see a list of actual costs. The price of books will differ. During enrolment, our Admissions Team will supply you with a complete list of titles that your child needs. There is a supplementary charge for taking tests at Cambridge International Exam Centres. During the admissions process, you'll be given a list of exam centers as well as contact information. You can count on our assistance at any moment to ensure that you register for exams with affiliate centers or the British Council.

We provide a variety of payment alternatives that are both flexible and convenient. You can pay monthly, termly, or annually using a Ugandan bank into our Bank account and direct debit. You can also pay by international bank transfer or credit card through our website's secure payment system offered by our banking partner.

You will receive a full refund of tuition payments if you decide to leave before your child attends his or her first class. (The enrolment cost of $100 and the test price of $100 are non-refundable.) If you decide to leave after your kid has started classes, we require a full term's notice in writing on or before the first day of the term to be eligible for withdrawal at the end of that term. For additional information, please visit our Terms and Conditions.

There will be no need for you to arrange or teach lessons. In a regular classroom, students have a teacher for each subject and a homeroom teacher. Learning takes place in a digital classroom rather than in a traditional classroom. A skilled teacher provides you with assistance and guidance. You're also a member of a school community.

In general, Online learning is a more efficient method of delivering teaching. In traditional schools, time spent inspecting uniforms, organizing large groups, and controlling undesirable learning behaviors should be better spent on the reason for going to school in the first place: education. However, not all online schools are created equal. Kensan uses Microsoft teams and other digital learning tools to combine live, real-time synchronous instruction with non-synchronous self-paced learning to obtain the best of both worlds.
